HOW TO GET STARTED
1. First, Schedule Your Appointment
Virtual appointments—either cosmetic consultations or teledermatology--may be scheduled by texting us at 703-766-2220, Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm. We require a credit card number to hold your appointment. Medical dermatology patients will not be charged except in the event you fail to cancel at least 24 hours prior. Cosmetic consults are $75 and will be applied as a credit on your account.
Our providers will arrange to meet you in the office should they determine your issue is urgent.
2. Your Provider Will Initiate the Appointment Call
Our office will work with you to determine how best to connect. Most patients prefer Zoom or FaceTime. If you consider yourself “non-tech savvy,” no worries! We’ll work through this together.
3. If You Need to Communicate With Our Office
Text us! 703-766-2220, or call between 8am to 5pm 703-766-2220 (you may need to leave a message and we will respond within 48 hours), or email to Care@RestonDermatology.com. To protect their privacy, any emails or images sent to our providers’ personal emails or texts will not receive a response.
Message from Our Office
We are here for you! Now you can connect with us from virtually anywhere at any time!
Just about anything is possible with your mobile device nowadays, including getting dermatology medical advice or treatment for some skin conditions. The CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and other insurance carriers currently allow for use of telecommunications technology that have audio and video capabilities that are used for two-way, real-time interactive communication.
Our providers are available Monday through Wednesday, with different hours depending on provider. Please keep in mind that the current situation is changing rapidly and our TeleDermatology methods and availability is subject to change.
Q: What types of appointments can be done through TeleDermatology?
A: While video TeleDermatology does not replace all types of visits, it is an ideal way to get quick feedback and a treatment plan for some mild skin issues, such as rash, spider/insect bites, minor burns, acne, and skin lesions. Please note, Reston Dermatology recommends that patients are seen *in person* for an annual skin check, once it is safe to resume our normal daily activities.
Q: What if I have a condition that requires immediate attention?
A: TeleDermatology is not appropriate for all types of visits. *If you have an emergency, call 911*. TeleDermatology is designed for routine and non-urgent matters only. If you have any kind of urgent request or procedural need, you must schedule an in-office visit.
Q: What if I’m currently on Accutane?
A: Our female dermatology patients on Accutane should do an at home pregnancy test, per IPLEDGE. This test should be taken on the day of your virtual appointment. Make sure the test is not expired, follow the directions, and take a picture of the result. Do this before the appointment. Male Accutane patients can also be seen via virtual appointments.
Q: Can I choose which provider will help me with my request?
A: You may schedule your TeleDermatology appointment with Dr. Amiry, or one of his well-trained (personally trained by Dr. Amiry!), extremely competent Physician Assistants Leigh Charron, PA-C, or Arnela Zukanovic, PA-C.
Q: How much does it cost to use TeleDermatology for a medical visit?
A: Medicare is currently covering these TeleDermatology visits. For all non-Medicare covered patients, we will file the visit through your insurance but in the event that your plan denies the visit, the cost will be $75 (which will be billed after the tele-visit).
Q: What can I expect at a Cosmetic TeleDermatology appointment?
A: Your provider can view over video any spots or lesions like skin tags, milia, seborrheic keratoses, DPNs, etc., that aren’t usually covered by insurance. Your provider can also provide a facial cosmetic plan, including Botox and other wrinkle reducers, dermal fillers, and skin care products. They will create a plan with an estimate of services for treatment. The cost for this service is $75 that will be credited to your account. Once we return to normal operations and you come in to receive your treatments, we will apply the credit to your purchase.
Q: What days and times are available for TeleDermatology appointments?
A: Mondays with Leigh Charron, PA-C, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm | Tuesdays with Dr. Amiry, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm | Wednesdays & Thursdays with Arnela Zukanovic, PA-C, from 9:00am to 12:00pm
Q: How will I receive my biopsy results?

If you feel enough time has passed and you haven’t received a call, please use one of the 3 methods described above. If You Need to Communicate With Our Office, using text, telephone, or email to reach out to us.
Q: What if I need a dermatologist for an urgent situation?
A: If, after a tele-visit, it is determined that you must be seen, we will arrange to meet you in the office. We will coordinate with suture removals and urgent dermatology issues.
Q: What if I need a prescription refill?
A: Please call your pharmacy and they will coordinate your refill with us. If you do not receive your refill, please use one of the 3 methods described above.
