Insurance
Insurance coverage for dermatology can be complex and varies widely based on your specific plan and benefits. Our goal is to help you understand how insurance may apply to your visit while keeping expectations clear and transparent.
In-Network and Out-of-Network Coverage
We participate with select insurance plans. Coverage depends on your individual policy, including medical necessity requirements and benefit design.
If we are not in network with your insurance plan, you may still be seen using our self-pay dermatology options.
We do not maintain a published list of insurance plans on our website, as networks and plan details frequently change. Our team is happy to help verify whether we are in network with your plan prior to your visit.
What Insurance Typically Covers
Insurance may cover medically necessary dermatology services, such as:
- evaluation of rashes, infections, or inflammatory conditions
- skin cancer screenings and lesion evaluation
- biopsies or procedures when clinically indicated
Patient Financial Responsibility
If we are in network with your insurance, coverage does not include:
- deductibles
- copays
- coinsurance
Any portion of services not paid by your insurance plan remains the patient’s responsibility.
If we are out of network, services are not billed to insurance and are handled as self-pay.
Procedures and Pathology
If a biopsy or excision is performed:
- procedure charges may be billed by our office
- pathology services are performed by an independent dermatopathology laboratory
Pathology fees are billed directly by the laboratory and are separate from any office visit or procedure charges. These fees are determined by the external lab performing the analysis and are not included in the cost of your treatment or consultation.
Cosmetic Services and Insurance
Cosmetic and elective services — including injectables, laser treatments, and other appearance-focused procedures — are not billed to insurance.
We do not submit insurance claims, provide diagnosis codes, or complete insurance documentation for cosmetic treatments, even if patients choose to seek reimbursement independently.
Insurance Can Be Complicated
We make every effort to explain insurance-related considerations, but insurance benefits are ultimately determined by your plan. We encourage patients to contact their insurance carrier directly to understand coverage, deductibles, and out-of-pocket responsibilities.
Pricing Transparency
- Insurnce coverage and payment responsibility vary by plan
- All pricing discussed on our website is subject to change without notice
- Final responsibility is reviewed in the office before services are provided
