What Is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting is a noninvasive fat removal treatment that uses controlled cooling to selectively target and destroy stubborn bulges. It’s an excellent nonsurgical alternative for localized fat pockets that been resistant to diet and exercise.
CoolSculpting is a breakthrough, non-invasive procedure that uses patented cooling technology to eliminate fat without surgery.
This clinically proven technique is designed to selectively reduce the fat in problem areas that has proven resistant to reduction through diet and exercise. CoolSculpting gently cools targeted cells in the body to induce a natural, controlled elimination of these unwanted fat cells.
CoolSculpting is the first and only nonsurgical procedure to selectively reduce fat layers in problem areas that include muffin tops, love handles and back fat. Developed in 2005 and backed by strong clinical research, CoolSculpting is based on Cryolipolysis (cold lipolysis)-the use of precisely controlled cooling to remove fat.
Based on the scientific principle that fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the overlying skin and surrounding tissues, CoolSculpting reduces the temperature of fat cells in the treated area.
This is intended to promote fat cell elimination through a natural biological process known as apoptosis, without causing scar tissue or damage to the skin, nerves or surrounding tissues.
Patients generally start to see results as soon as three weeks following treatment, with the most dramatic results occurring over a period of two to four months.
But your body will still flush out fat cells and continues doing so for up to six months after treatment.
CoolSculpting is one of the most popular noninvasive body contouring treatments in the world and for good reason!

How Does CoolSculpting Work?
CoolSculpting is an in-office treatment that can be performed in as little as 35 minutes.
During the procedure, a CoolSculpting applicator (available in a variety of shapes and sizes) is used to vacuum fatty tissue between two cooling panels and deliver controlled cooling. This selectively freezes and kills fat cells, without harming skin or surrounding structures.
In the weeks after treatment, fat cell remnants are naturally cleared from the body via the lymphatic system.
The new CoolSculpting Elite uses new applicators that can freeze double the fat in half the time of the original treatment.
The new device features re-engineered applicators for a better fit, larger cooling panels to increase treatment size, and the ability to use two applicators simultaneously. This allows people to treat two different areas at the same time.
CoolSculpting Elite has seven new applicators in all different shapes and sizes, making it is easier than ever to customize treatment to your body.
What Areas Can CoolSculpting Treat?
CoolSculpting is extremely versatile and can help women and men as well as younger and older patients remove excess fat and sculpt their bodies the way they want. It can be used to treat virtually any part of the body, including:
- Flanks (love handles)
- Inner and outer thighs
- Banana roll (under buttocks)
- Bra line
- Upper arms
- Male chest
- Double chin
What Kind of Results Can Patients Expect from CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting has the ability to eliminate up to 24% of fat cells in the treated area. Women and men can expect to see visible slimming and sculpting effects within 4-6 weeks.
Results will continue to improve and usually peak by 12 weeks.
Does CoolSculpting Permanently Destroy Fat Cells?
Thanks to its patented cooling technology, CoolSculpting freezes and eliminates targeted fat cells from the body. As such, destroyed fat cells are gone for good and cannot return.
That being said, remaining fat cells can still enlarge if a person were to gain weight in the future. Therefore, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and stable weight is the best way to preserve CoolSculpting results for years to come.
